Happy 101st birthday: Maria is now part of the “100” club in 5 minutes

The pandemic is a major burden, especially for older people. Maria Kaufmann is one of them. “Before the Corona crisis, she was at the Benedictine market every day. She loved the appreciative contacts and conversations. She experiences the crisis as a massive restriction,” says her niece Ilse Speiser. Suddenly there were no more beloved holidays in Caorle.

Maria takes care of her figure

Even today, Maria Kaufmann pays attention to her figure, hairstyle and clothes. Ilse Speiser: “She feels good, walks without a cane, hears very well. Reading is also possible with visual aids.” Her constant companion is a GPS watch, which ensures her safety. In everyday life Maria is supported by her relatives. She would have liked to have become a kindergarten teacher, as Maria reveals. In 1937 – at the age of 16 – she even traveled alone by train from Klagenfurt to Berlin to take up a job as a nanny. In 1942 she returned. Maria proudly tells us that she didn’t shy away from work and always earned it herself. “101 years, what a number! Maria Kaufmann can look back on a very long, eventful and fulfilled life. I congratulate her from the bottom of my heart on her 101st birthday and above all I wish Ms. Kaufmann good health. I’d be happy to come back for my 102nd birthday,” says Mayor Scheider, who accompanied the cathedral priest Dr. Peter Allmaier visited.
