Hawai’i Women’s Volleyball Opens Homestand Against Nevada

The University of Hawai’i women’s volleyball team carries the Mountain West lead into a two-week homestand, opening with a series against Nevada on Thursday, Nov. 5, and Saturday, Nov. 7. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

The Rainbow Wahine enter the week with a 19-4 overall record and an 11-1 mark in conference play, sitting alone atop the Mountain West standings. The program holds a three-match lead over the Aggies in the race for the regular-season title, backed by a No. 36 ranking in the NCAA RPI.

The Nevada Wolf Pack enter the week with a 5-17 overall record and a 3-9 mark in conference action. The visitors are looking to rebound after dropping both ends of a series against Wyoming in Reno, falling in three sets in the opener before losing a five-set battle in the rematch.

The historical matchup heavily favors the home side. Hawai’i leads the all-time series 38-1, having won 38 matches since Nevada took the inaugural meeting on Nov. 3, 1992. The Rainbow Wahine hold an 18-0 record in matches played in Honolulu and have swept the last 14 meetings dating back to 2006.

Roster Milestones and Team Statistics

Several key players reached career milestones during last week’s road series split at UC Davis, where the Rainbow Wahine won the opener in four sets before suffering their first conference loss via a sweep. Middle blocker Miliana Sylvester paces the Mountain West with 1.25 blocks per set and ranks sixth in the conference with a .323 hitting percentage, surpassing 100 blocks in a single season for the first time with 291 career blocks.

Sophomore Cha’lei Reid has led the team in kills for eight consecutive matches, averaging 3.89 kills per set over that span to take over the overall team lead at 3.27 kills per set while pushing past 500 career kills. Libero Victoria Leyva anchors the defense, ranking third in the conference with 3.99 digs per set and 335 total digs after eclipsing the 1,000-career-dig mark in California.

Additional support comes from setter Adrianna Arquette, who averages 9.67 assists per set to rank second in the Mountain West, and Panna Ratkai, who leads the squad with 31 service aces. Outside hitter Tali Hakas, currently contributing 2.55 kills per set, recently announced that this will be her final season and will be honored during next week’s Senior Night ceremony.
