“He was wandering the streets and holding a glass of wine” (video)

“The king was wandering the streets, drunk, and holding a glass of wine. He was surrounded by his plainclothes guards, who prevented passers-by from taking pictures.” This is what the Arab newspaper An-Nahar writes after the publication on social networks of a video of the king of Morocco who seemed to be drunk in the streets of Paris. The images of Mohammed VI were captured by a motorist.

The video sparked many reactions and outraged many Moroccans. In Morocco, the law strictly prohibits the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages to Muslims.

Mohammed’s spokesman reacted to the controversial video and denounced the images which are intended to “tarnish the king’s image”: “The king was walking in the streets of Paris, and when he turned to greet people, he almost lost his balance and leaned on his bodyguards. He didn’t have a glass of wine, but a bottle of water in his hand,” he said.
