Here is the latest addition to the Galaxy A series family, the A53 5G

This new A53 5G has a large screen, a more enduring battery, numerous photo sensors and color versions to interest people looking for a mid-range smartphone. As well as being packed with features, the Galaxy A53 has an understated, yet pleasing design that gives it a certain high-end edge.

This device accounts for more than half (58%) of the South Korean group’s total smartphone sales. No wonder it’s hugely popular on the Android planet, even if it lacks cutting-edge tech like the Fold Z 3’s foldable form factor or as enticing as the S22 Ultra.

Interestingly, this A53 phone competes directly with the new iPhone SE that Apple launched last week.

Improved photography

At first glance similar to the Galaxy A52 5G, the new A53 5G has a 64-megapixel main camera sensor that Samsung says is “new and improved”. The camera’s new photo processing capabilities should result in improved detail and color, as well as low-light performance.

In addition to the main 64MP camera, the device has a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 5MP shallow depth-of-field camera (for portraits with a blurred background ) and a 5MP macro camera (for close-up shots).

As on its other high-end devices, the manufacturer has integrated photo editing functions into the A53, including tools for erasing unwanted objects in the background and converting old photos.

Autonomy and updates

Under the hood, Samsung has integrated its in-house Exynos 1280 processor, and not chips from Qualcomm, its usual supplier.

The battery chosen offers a capacity of 5000 mAh capable, according to Samsung, of holding two days. In comparison, the predecessor A52 has a 4500 mAh battery.

The new phone will also receive four generations of Android OS updates and five years of security updates, an extra year over the Galaxy A52 5G for general and security updates.

Screen

If you like large mobile screens, you’ll be delighted, as the A53’s screen spans 6.5” diagonally. As for the resolution, it is of the Full HD+ type and its refresh rate reaches 120 Hz, a rate that will appeal to video game enthusiasts.

On the Samsung site, the Galaxy A53 5G is available for pre-order from March 17, 2022 and on sale from March 1^is April 2022 at Samsung.com/ca_en, Samsung Experience Stores and major carrier and retail partners in Canada for $589.99 (regular price).
