Heung-min Son (29, Tottenham), who became the top scorer in the English Premier League (EPL), returned to gold with the ‘Golden Boot’, the top scorer trophy. Son Heung-min scored 23 goals without penalty kicks (PK) in 35 EPL matches in the 2021-22 season and tied for the top scorer with Mohammad Salah (Liverpool). This is the first time for an Asian player to become the top scorer in the top five European football leagues (England, Spain, Germany, France, and Italy). Son Heung-min said, “It’s something I’ve been dreaming of since I was a kid, but it’s literally in my hands.” He said, “I can’t believe it. He achieved his dream in the EPL, which is also called the world’s best stage in Europe, and put an end to the ‘world class’ controversy with his clear track record of being the top scorer.
