[Reporter Lin Xiaoyun/Taipei Report]The prototype house designed by the team of teachers and students of the Interdisciplinary Design Science Research Center (TDIS) of National Yang Ming Jiaotong University – “Taiwan Cuo-1 House for All”, expedition “European Sustainable Green Building Energy House Decathlon” “Contest”, there is a good news today. In Wupata, Germany, which is known as the city of the future and the university city, won the double prize of the “Architectural Project” Gold Award and the “Innovative Project” Bronze Award.
The school issued good news today that the “European Cup Solar Decathlon Green Building Competition” is an international competition with students as the main body. The purpose of the competition is to promote the energy transition in the urban environment. The participating teams have to deal with 3 contemporary architectural tasks: renovation and expansion, Closing the gap and adding floors requires the design, construction and operation of innovative buildings powered by efficient renewable energy.

The Forestry Bureau has previously stated that the works designed by the TDIS team used the nearly 5 years of cooperation between the Forestry Bureau and the National Taiwan University Experimental Forest Management Office to develop and build engineering wood processing technology, as the main wood structure material and assembly technology of the prototype house. The first domestic heavy-timber building in Taiwan, using 32.2 cubic meters of domestic cedar CLT and 13.2 cubic meters of domestic cedar laminated lumber, to complete a 2-story wooden building structure with a stable quality of about 60 pings. The green building materials for walls, ceilings, floors, and partitions are also made of domestic cedar.
Yangming Jiaotong University said that the “Taiwan House”, which emphasizes sustainable environment, renewable energy, circular economy, co-living between green and silver, urban regeneration, and old house reconstruction, won the double prize and won a standing ovation from everyone present. I burst into tears, because the “1 House for All” expedition to Europe was faced with many difficulties due to the raging epidemic, arduous transportation, and soaring prices. The difficult task could only be accomplished through the great assistance and Olympic aid of various ministries, sponsoring companies and people of goodwill in the society.
The school said that winning the award is a result of the review by the organizers of Germany, the European Union and global sustainability experts.
