Hogwarts Legacy Developer Says He Won’t Buy The Game

One of the developers Hogwarts Legacy – a member of the team that worked with the motion capture technology of actors – Parker Hutzler said that he would not buy the game. His categorical decision is related to JK Rowling’s position on transgender people.

I’m listed in the credits of Hogwarts Legacy, my second big budget game. I was a technician on set and helped the mocap actors see their surroundings. I won’t buy the game – it’s the least I can do. <...>

I expect a lot of people to pop up out of nowhere and say, “Well, I don’t care! I’m going to buy the game!”. Save your nerves, if I look at your account I see that you follow JK Rowling or are right wing.

The developer also responded to those who felt that he should not have worked on the game if he has such a position. The designer admitted that he did not refuse cooperation because of the money.

I’m telling people who call me hypocritical for not refusing to work on this game because of my position: Realize that you can’t decide for me or control my finances or how companies operate. If I had refused to work, I would have been fired immediately and I would have been left without a roof over my head.

Hogwarts Legacy Standard Edition is scheduled to release on February 10th. The game will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. On February 7, the owners of the Deluxe edition received early access to the title. You can read the first impression about the game from the author of Cybersport.ru in this article.
