Hokko Spaces Released on PC and Nintendo Switch: A Cozy Sandbox Diorama Game

Team17 and developer Wonderscope Games released Hokko Spaces on October 29, 2026, bringing a casual sandbox spin-off of the community life simulation Hokko Life to PC and Nintendo Switch for $7.99.

Trading Large-Scale Village Management for Diorama Building

Moving away from the extensive economic management and wide-scale town mechanics of its predecessor, Hokko Spaces narrows its design focus entirely onto detailed diorama construction. Wonderscope Games founder Robert Tatnell wanted to strip away unnecessary administrative burdens to let players concentrate on compact, high-density creative building. The title is based on the world of the community life simulation game Hokko Life, which previously debuted on Steam in June 2021 via early access before its official launch in September 2022 across PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox.

Players sculpt terrain utilizing five distinct block themes—stone gravel, grass, and sand among them—before placing more than 300 unique decorative assets. Benches, campfires, potted flora, and fencing populate these miniature environments, turning blank grids into peaceful pastoral scenes without the pressure of strict operational rules. Development studio Wonderscope Games introduces the work as a calm and casual sandbox game to enjoy cozy dioramas and a comfortable atmosphere with no rules and no stress.

Unlocking Animal Residents Through Lightweight Goals

Populating these constructed scenes requires interacting with the game’s roster of 26 animal residents. Rather than forcing complex social meters or demanding time-sensitive schedules, the title unlocks these characters through low-friction assignments, such as clearing 20 weeds.

Once unlocked, these residents wander through the player’s custom dioramas, tending gardens and resting near designated furniture pieces. This gives static builds a lived-in feel.

Seasonal Weather Variations and Photo Mode Integration

Environmental mood shifts rely on a comprehensive system covering all four traditional seasons, each equipped with two distinct weather variations. Players can configure specific atmospheric conditions, ranging from falling cherry blossoms during spring evenings to frosty textures on winter mornings.

An integrated photo mode captures these scenes with granular control over camera angles, depth of field, and customizable visual filters.

Pricing Structures and Beachside Downloadable Content

The base application launched alongside several add-on packages on October 29. A separate expansion titled Lei’s Beachside Pack introduces a new beach-themed resident named Lei alongside items like inner tubes, lifeguard chairs, and boomboxes for $1.99.

Content Package Pricing (USD)
Base Game (Hokko Spaces) $7.99
Lei’s Beachside Pack DLC $1.99
Sunshine Edition (Base + DLC) $8.99
Digital Soundtrack DLC $2.99

Steam storefront listings also detail a 10% launch discount running through November 12, 2026. The title provides complete interface localization across ten languages, including official Korean support for PC users, though precise language parameters for the Nintendo Switch version remain unconfirmed by the publisher.
