Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei has warned the international community that any threat against Iran will be met with an immediate and geographically unrestricted response. State media reported that the newly elevated Iranian supreme leader issued a call during a meeting with top officials, directing the drafting of an updated list of potential US and Israeli targets to include physical and non-physical assets.
Khamenei stated that any level or type of threat must be met with an immediate, impactful, and geographically unrestricted response.
The supreme leader issued the warning on Saturday as urgent diplomatic efforts continued to avoid a new all-out conflict. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated on Sunday that Tehran hopes that there is rationality on the other side to prefer diplomacy to other paths,
and added that drawing on the experiences of the past two wars, we are much stronger than before.
The threat of a geographically unrestricted response means Iran could target Europe, Turkey, and the South Caucasus in the event of a renewed attack. Khamenei also asserted that should Iran’s enemies resume military or terrorist attacks, it will be the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic and the Iranian nation that will determine when and under what conditions those attacks will end.
Iranian army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia reiterated on Sunday that should a new war erupt, the geography of the conflict will not be confined to the West Asia region,
and that any potential future war could prove significantly longer than past conflicts.
State media reported that the threats were an effort in response to possible US and Israel strikes.
Military Briefings and Ramped-Up Production in Tehran
The high-level security gathering brought together major figures in Iran’s military apparatus. Major General Ahmad Vahidi, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), joined the Iranian army commander and his chief of staff to brief the supreme leader on national defense readiness.
The commanders informed Khamenei that Iran’s weapons production has increased seven-fold. Khamenei also directed Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei toward a decisive, swift, and non-discriminatory campaign against corruption.
The Telegraph reported that Major General Mohsen Rezaei and parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf made separate secret journeys to meet with Khamenei. Officials cited by The Telegraph noted that the meetings were carefully calculated to demonstrate that the supreme leader remains firmly in control amid domestic political confusion and clerical debate over the visibility of the office. In the summer, a deputy head of the Basij promised the imminent release of images and proof of life, while hardline MP Esmail Kowsari claimed the leader slips anonymously into public gatherings.
Navigating the Strait of Hormuz and Diplomatic Signals
Diplomatic efforts continue in parallel with military posturing, centered primarily on mediation through Qatar.

Major General Mohsen Rezaei stated that he had received a letter from US Vice President JD Vance proposing negotiations. Commenting on the correspondence, Rezaei said the tone has completely changed
and called it a very good sign,
while Araghchi called Washington’s attempt to open dialogue a positive step.
Gulf News reported that Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, strongly rejected any political manipulation of the Strait of Hormuz during a UN Security Council debate. Meanwhile, Qatar’s foreign ministry condemned a Friday attack on one of its liquefied natural gas tankers by unidentified objects, warning of serious repercussions for global energy supplies.
Regional Anxiety Across the Persian Gulf
Governments across the Persian Gulf find themselves caught in a prolonged state of uncertainty. UAE presidential adviser Anwar Gargash stated at a conference in Bahrain that regional states remain braced for the worst while hoping that Qatari-led mediation efforts will prevail. Gargash cautioned that if Washington and Tehran fail to bridge their positions, the region faces severe economic and security fallout.

With state media reporting that Iran intends to dictate the duration and terms of any renewed conflict, regional observers continue to monitor whether last-minute diplomatic breakthroughs can avert a full-scale escalation.
Post-Election Politics and Security in Israel
Speaking in a Newsmax interview following Israel’s inconclusive general election, Huckabee expressed concern over incoming Arab lawmakers’ critical positions on Israel, noting that some have been outspoken against the nation while expressing no real condemnation of Hamas. Huckabee also argued in a NewsNation interview that Israel’s political left has largely vaporized since the 2023 attack, stating that on national security there is little difference among parties other than the Arab factions. In Tel Aviv on Saturday, October 31, 2026, demonstrators protested following the general election to call for the formation of a Jewish-Arab government, with one participant wearing a mask depicting US President Donald Trump and holding a doll representing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
