Horizon Forbidden West: a sequel that goes badly for some players? Anger invades Metacritic

Game news Horizon Forbidden West: a sequel that goes badly for some players? Anger invades Metacritic

That’s it, Sony and PlayStation have played their first asset of 2022 with the release of Horizon: Forbidden West, at least if we do not take into account the port of God of War on PC! Around the world, the latest hit for the PS5 and PS4 is unanimously received with rave reviews. Unfortunately, an annoying habit initiated by a handful of disgruntled players has tarnished the positive wave that has swept around the title since its release.

Say that the new installment of the franchise Horizon was expected like the messiah by all the players PS4 and PS5 would be an understatement. The excitement was then at its height on Friday February 18 when the game was released, which also benefited d’un patch « day-one » (which corresponds to the work and modifications made by the teams between the moment the game goes “gold” and when it officially comes out) allowing all players to discover it in optimal conditions on each medium!

At any rate, Horizon Forbidden West did not need this little bit of polish to position itself as a must in the PlayStation 5. It must be said that the developers had taken care to take their time to deliver an exemplary copy, even if it means postponing the release of the game as they explained recently. In short, the PlayStation may be there the equivalent of his Breath of the Wild or at least, an extraordinary open world ! But as always, it is difficult to satisfy all the players and some take malicious pleasure in tackling the game when a small detail does not pass.

Barely released, the latest production from PlayStation Studios has quickly positioned itself as one of the best rated games of the moment according to the review aggregator since it can boast of a very nice 88/100. A “protected” rating that players cannot influence, and so much the better since some are currently having a field day orchestrating a ” review-bombing aiming to drastically lower the average awarded by players to the title of Guerilla Games.

Right now the game page has over 4000 reviews (4385, to be exact) but player anger tends to set a dangerous ratio between review types as 3404 players have written a positive review against 785 who gave a negative rating by pointing out the various points that annoyed them. The list of disgruntled people, which grows by the hour, includes a whole host of reasons, ranging from an increased presence of bugs to the quality of the graphics – a rather strange criticism given the studio’s performance on this point. .

However, a handful of players went even further in their criticism aimed at undermining the game’s success by pointing to the presence of fluff on Aloy’s cheeks – which some take for a ” beard » —, « the disgusting wokist ideology » or the aspect « politically correct ” Game. In short, all means are good to attack the success of Guerrilla Games. To counter what the defenders of the game consider as “trolls”, some attribute the maximum score which allows the general average to stabilize around 80/100.

For its part, the Metacritic site is trying, somehow, to block this questionable practice by preventing new malicious users from posting a review. However, the short deadline of 36 hours is not a total deterrent, which does not make it possible to curb review-bombing as the site hoped. Let’s hope that this phenomenon is only temporary: in any case, the players will surely not take into account the “criticisms” formulated by these users.
