This is a known phenomenon since Vice published, in 2022, 150 police reports and several testimonies of victims being spied on.

Among the reported cases, 50 are women who reported to the police that they had been tracked by an AirTag. Among them, half were able to identify an ex-spouse, husband or boss as responsible.

If you suspect someone is stalking you using an AirTag, here’s what to do.

Watch for a beep. Indeed, AirTags emit a weak detonation after a certain time when away from the device to which they are connected.

It is possible to locate the object using a smart phone (iPhone or Android) or an iPad.

To do this, you must activate the “Locate” function in your settings.

Your iPhone will send you a notification to let you know if a nearby device is detected or if an AirTag is tracking your movements.

Take note of the chip’s serial number, recommends Apple.

Stalking is a crime in Canada. If you believe you have been the victim of criminal harassment, consult the Government of Canada website.
