How to solve the low or failing sound of the Bluetooth headset or box?

It is not uncommon to notice that the sound from your headset or Bluetooth speaker is low or failing. Although this problem leads us to think that it is the device’s fault, that is not always the case. Generally, this behavior is caused by switching between Bluetooth profiles, which occurs when we switch between music and a cell phone call.

Why is the sound from my Bluetooth headphone or speaker low or failing?

In the vast majority of cases, the sound from the Bluetooth headset or speaker becomes low or starts to fail due to switching between Bluetooth profiles. When we listen to music, the A2DP profile (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) is used to transmit audio from one device to another via Bluetooth. The HSP profile (Headset Profile) is activated when making calls, which is when we use the microphone on headphones and speakers. When doing this, the volume is adjusted and the data flow is changed, sending the audio signal from the microphone and receiving the audio signal from the sound.

With the change from the A2DP profile to the HSP, the data flow becomes two-way instead of one, as the microphone from the headset or Bluetooth speaker is inserted into the transmission. This is the reason why audio quality degradation occurs, as there is not enough bandwidth to support the sending and receiving of audio, as explained in this article in more detail. The result is audio failure during a call via WhatsApp, for example.

This change of profiles also causes a change in the sound volume, considerably impairing the performance of the Bluetooth headset or box. Fortunately, this problem and the inconsistency in data transmission can be resolved, as I will show below.

Necessary time: 3 minutes

Turn off the Bluetooth speaker or return the TWS Bluetooth headset to the charging case.

Disable your phone’s Bluetooth in your phone’s quick settings.

Wait approximately 10 seconds and activate the cell phone’s Bluetooth again.

Turn on the Bluetooth speaker or remove the TWS Bluetooth headset from the charging case.
