Hum Announces 2027 U.S. Tour Dates

Veteran Illinois shoegaze band Hum have announced a 2027 tour, marking their first proper run of live dates since 2015.

The 2027 Itinerary and Support Lineup

The upcoming trek officially kicks off in Atlanta this coming March. From there, the band will wind its way through major markets including Austin, Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and Seattle before finally wrapping up the itinerary in San Francisco this July.

Every single date on the schedule features direct support from Kansas City’s the Life and Times. Meanwhile, Chicago post-hardcore band Pelican will handle opening duties for the East Coast shows, and Brooklyn trio Spotlights will take over the opening slot for the West Coast dates.

Building on Recent Festival Sets

These newly announced headline shows build directly on the momentum of Hum’s well-received performances earlier this year at the traveling shoegaze festival Slide Away. At that festival, the group shared top billing with Chapterhouse and Nothing.

Those festival appearances marked the first time Hum performed songs from their 2020 album Inlet live. Before that release, the band hadn’t shared a record since 1997’s Downward Is Heavenward, which followed 1995’s You’d Prefer An Astronaut and their 1993 debut Electra 2000.

Personnel and the Road Ahead

The upcoming 2027 dates follow a nearly seven-year hiatus for the band. That hiatus encompassed the death of original drummer Bryan St. Pere in 2021.

To fill the drum seat for the forthcoming tour, Shiner’s Jason Gerken will return to the kit. Gerken previously joined the group during their 2015 tour and also performed with them during their Slide Away festival appearances.
