“Human-Lion Conflict in Kenya: Tragic Consequences and Conservation Efforts”

2023-05-15 19:44:30

Lions in Kenya get too close to humans and this has deadly consequences. Conservationists say at least 10 lions were killed in the southern part of the country last week, and that includes one of the oldest lions in Africa.
Lonkitu, 19, they say wandered outside his protected area, entered a cattle pen in search of food and was killed by the cattle owner.

The Kenya Wildlife Service met with people to discuss the problem. She says that drought conditions increase conflict between lions and humans because wild prey becomes difficult to hunt.

So the lions start chasing the farm animals.
