Ahmed Al-Nour, General Coordinator of the Sudanese Doctors Initiative in Chad, revealed the difficult conditions that the Sudanese live in the camps on the Chadian border, describing the situation as a human tragedy that is about to explode.

Volunteer medical teams work in field hospitals in the Adre camp in eastern Chad. Adre camp is the largest of the 4 camps with more than 300,000 refugees. Adre camp alone contains more than 60,000 refugees, most of whom are children, women and the elderly. Inside the camp, there are no fixed tents built in an engineering way, but rather dwellings built by refugees from local materials such as reeds.
What about health status?
Al-Nour says that the health situation has become catastrophic with the spread of epidemics such as malaria, stomach diseases and diarrhea, due to malnutrition, eye infections, as well as chronic diseases such as diabetes, pressure and gland diseases.

The field hospital is not operating at full capacity due to frequent power outages. We receive about 1,000 to 1,500 patients in less than 10 hours a day, and the number can be increased.

Al-Nour made a distress call to health and humanitarian organizations to extend a helping hand to the refugees.
He said, “The field hospital is threatened with shutdown due to the lack of a continuous supply of medicine. Most of the supply comes from contributions from doctors outside Chad. We appeal, through your respected website, to all parties to provide a helping hand and assistance to the refugees, especially medicine.”
