The Ukrainian president announced Volodymyr Zelensky He thanked Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in a phone call yesterday, Friday, for supporting Ukraine’s territorial integrity during the United Nations General Assembly.
At the beginning of the call, he expressed his congratulations to the Crown Prince on his appointment as Prime Minister, and he also expressed his thanks and gratitude for the Kingdom’s vote in favor of the United Nations General Assembly resolution.
The Ukrainian president also expressed his thanks and appreciation for the willingness of Prince Mohammed bin Salman to continue mediation efforts aimed at finding a solution to the crisis.
400 million dollars in humanitarian aid
In parallel, the Ukrainian President expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Crown Prince for the decision of the Saudi leadership to provide an additional humanitarian aid package to Ukraine in the amount of 400 million dollars, which will contribute to alleviating the suffering of Ukrainian citizens in light of the crisis the country is going through.
Zelensky stressed that this humanitarian aid is evidence of the Crown Prince’s keenness to contribute to alleviating human suffering, noting that the Ukrainian people will not forget this noble humanitarian stance that proves Saudi Arabia’s friendship with Ukraine.
For his part, the Crown Prince affirmed that the Kingdom’s vote in favor of the resolution stems from its support for adherence to the principles enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and international law, and its emphasis on respect for the sovereignty of states, the principles of good neighborliness, and the resolution of disputes by peaceful means.
Saudi mediation
He stressed the Kingdom’s position in support of everything that contributes to de-escalation, and the Kingdom’s readiness to continue its mediation efforts.
It is noteworthy that the mediation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis led to Russia releasing 10 prisoners from Morocco, America, Britain, Sweden and Croatia, at the end of last September.
The mediation of the Saudi Crown Prince in releasing 10 prisoners held by Russia from 5 countries received wide international praise, with many major countries expressing their thanks for the Crown Prince’s humanitarian efforts.
