Can Putin be tried for war crimes?
The Russian president is targeted by an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court for the deportation of Ukrainian children. His trial will depend on the outcome of the conflict.
This is a first for a head of state outside the African continent. The International Criminal Court announced on Friday that it had issued an arrest warrant against Vladimir Putin. The Russian president would be responsible for “war crime” for “illegal deportation of population”, in particular of children, from the occupied zones of Ukraine towards Russia. Maria Lvova-Belova, presidential commissioner for children’s rights in Russia, is also concerned.
