| ICC ODI Rankings: Gill jumps; In 38

Dubai: The young Indian player Shubman Gill has won the new ranking of International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI batsmen. Gill jumped up 45 places to 38th place in one fell swoop.

Gill’s good performance in the Zimbabwe tour, which concluded yesterday, helped him to improve the ranking. Gill shone with his maiden century in the last ODI. Gill scored 130 runs off 97 balls in the last match.

Pakistan’s Babar Azam retained the top position with 890 rating points. South African players Rassie Vander Dassan (789) and Quinton de Kock are in the second and third positions. Imam ul Haq is fourth with 799 rating points. India’s Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retained the fifth and sixth positions. David Warner (Australia), Jonny Bairstow (England), Ross Taylor (New Zealand) and Aaron Finch (Australia) are in positions seven to 10. Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, who was ranked 11th in the previous rankings, has dropped one place to 12th.

Shakib is the first among all-rounders

Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan topped the new list of all-rounders as usual. Afghanistan’s Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan retained the second and third positions.

Sikander Raza, the pillar of Zimbabwe’s batting, climbed one place to the fourth position with a smashing century in the last ODI against India.

Mitchell Santner (New Zealand), Sesion Maqsood (Oman), Mehdi Hasan (Bangladesh), Chris Woakes (England), Colin de Granthome (New Zealand) and Glenn Maxwell (Australia) are in the five to ten ranks. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja, who are ranked 14 and 19, are the Indian presence in the top 20.

Bolt on the bowlers

New Zealand’s Trent Boult retained the top spot among ODI bowlers. Jasprit Bumrah is the only Indian in the top ten behind Afghanistan’s Mujibur Rahman.
