A photo of the vehicle of a hit-and-run drunk driver who killed a high school student is gaining attention online. Many netizens recognized the drunk car with its unique sticker, saying, “It was a hot topic two years ago.” In some quarters, there was a movement to disclose some of the driver’s personal information and receive reports about it.
According to the police on the 25th, Cheonan Seobuk Police Station in South Chungcheong Province is arresting and investigating Mr. A (36) on suspicion of hitting and killing a high school student while driving at a high speed while drunk and then running away.
Mr. A is suspected of hitting and killing high school student B (17), who was crossing the crosswalk, while running against a traffic light at a three-way intersection in Buda-dong, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan, at around 8:40 p.m. on the 21st.
Looking at the CCTV footage at the time, Group B ran to the crosswalk where the pedestrian signal started blinking. When Group B had almost crossed the road and reached the sidewalk, Mr. A’s vehicle suddenly ran at high speed and rushed straight into Group B. The road where the accident occurred had a speed limit of 50 km/h, but Mr. A’s vehicle was traveling at 130 km/h.
After the accident, Mr. A ran another 1.8 km and stopped only after hitting a telephone pole. A photo of Mr. A’s car with the entire bumper damaged due to this impact was also released. As a result of the police investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A drank alcohol in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do, then got behind the wheel and drove about 20 km.
