IEEE Computer Society Central Indiana Chapter Launches Tech Talk Series

IEEE Computer Society Central Indiana Chapter Launches Virtual Tech Talk Series for Region 4 Engineers

Engineering professionals, students, and IEEE members across Region 4 now have access to monthly technical discussions without traveling, following the recent launch of the IEEE Computer Society Central Indiana Chapter’s Tech Talk Series. The live webinar program connects participants with industry practitioners to examine emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and sustainable infrastructure.

The virtual format was selected specifically to eliminate travel barriers for chapter members and the broader engineering community. Sessions bridge the gap between classroom theory and workplace realities for undergraduate and graduate students. Meanwhile, experienced professionals utilize the forum to evaluate system architecture, reliability, security, governance, and product delivery methods used by other organizations.

Apple Engineer Leads Session on Governed Agentic Systems

Recent installments of the series focused heavily on agentic systems and AI governance. Gajendra Babu Thokala, a senior engineering leader at Apple in Seattle and an IEEE senior member, led a session titled Feeding and Fencing AI Agents: Engineering Governed Agentic Systems on Real-Time Data. The talk addressed moving beyond isolated AI features toward governed systems that execute multistep business workflows utilizing real-time data.

Another recent webinar explored the distinction between traditional software and products built around AI agents. Sandeep Shivam, a product and technology leader at Tavant in Dallas and an IEEE senior member, presented Building AI Native Products: A Playbook for Agentic Systems. The session detailed how agentic systems assist users in completing complex, multistep tasks.

Webinar Session Speaker Affiliation Primary Technical Focus
Feeding and Fencing AI Agents Apple (Seattle) Governed agentic systems and real-time data workflows
Building AI Native Products Tavant (Dallas) AI-native product architecture and agentic playbooks

Expanding Technical Discussions to Cloud Platforms and Enterprise Integration

Speakers in the series move beyond high-level concepts to discuss specific engineering decisions, structural design choices, and implementation hurdles. Presenters from Apple, software firm Tavant, and cybersecurity concern Zscaler share direct lessons from their daily engineering work through live technical walkthroughs.

Future programming will broaden the scope to include enterprise AI, software reliability, and responsible AI usage. Organizers plan to feature contributors from startups, universities, and research organizations alongside practitioners from major technology companies. These upcoming sessions will examine cloud platforms, enterprise integrations, and the responsible development of AI systems.

Registration details and schedules for future events remain accessible via the IEEE Region 4 virtual events calendar.
