The General Inspection of Justice (IGJ) determined that “there were no controversies” in the collection of Independiente, promoted by the influencer Santiago Maratea, for the payment of debts of the institution for 25 million dollars and that 10 percent of the final objective has been raised after almost two months of initiation.
This way, a file that was opened on May 31 is closed when the Inspectorate of Justice declared the registration of the Independiente trust in the province of Neuquén “ineffective and irregular”a district outside the legal domiciles of the club and of Maratea himself, and observed the filing of the funds in an account of the Mercado Pago system because he understood that the collection of public savings could not be “out of control.”
At the press conference held at the IGJ headquarters were Ricardo Nissen, head of the organization, along with Maratea and also Juan Marconi, vice president of the Avellaneda institution. The first to speak was Nissen, who explained: “When we see something strange, we object. In this particular case there were no controversies, but there were discrepancies in methodologies when bringing the trust to Neuquén. There was no reason to take him there because the points of contact were from Buenos Aires.”
“We deeply analyzed the letter of the trust – the official continued explaining – and both Santiago Maratea and his lawyers gave us the reason and others discussed them. We came to the conclusion that now everything is fine, with a presumption of legality and from 10:30 in the morning they were registered accordingly. The collection was never in danger, now it depends on them. We only control.
For her part, Maratea noted: “I will always be willing to do anything that brings transparency. Nothing happened to generate opposition. The passage of the trust through the Inspection of Justice was a great learning experience”. The influencer also reported that at the moment the amount collected reaches 879,804,497 pesos and that it will continue to charge 5 percent of what was received as stipulated in the original contract. “I feel the collection will be clearer, not cleaner,” commented Maratea.
Marconi, vice president of Independiente, stated that they decided “to keep a low profile as a club and as a board of directors” and that “now we have to support and bankroll Maratea for the favor and help that he is not giving.” “We are doing things with credibility and transparency, beyond political ideologies,” said Marconi, who anticipated that It is possible that with part of the proceeds (3,436,736 dollars at the official exchange rate) a partial payment will be made to América de México to reduce the debt of 5 million of the US currency that is due to the unpaid pass of the Paraguayan striker Cecilio Domínguez.
“The idea is to make a partial payment and then open a negotiation with America. We must show seriousness and willingness to pay,” Marconi said after which Nissen took up the floor to warn that the appointment of a judicial observer resolved by the body under his charge on May 31, was replaced by a monthly rendering of accounts. “We question the legality of the procedure and the forms, but now everything depends on Maratea and Independiente,” said the official.
