IKEA Opens New Compact Store in Białystok with Plans for Kielce

Opening on November 12, IKEA Retail is launching a 3,600-square-meter compact retail store inside the Galeria Zielone Wzgórze shopping center in Białystok, Poland. The new location brings over 2,000 ready-to-buy items, professional interior design assistance, and dining options closer to local residents without requiring travel to a traditional out-of-town warehouse.

The compact format bridges traditional in-store shopping with digital ordering, allowing customers to purchase items on-site or order from the full product catalog for home delivery or personal collection. Shoppers can also consult specialists for kitchen and storage planning.

Retail Strategy and Local Offerings

Located at ul. Wrocławska 20, the store features ready-made interior arrangements alongside popular home furnishings and accessories, including the KALLAX shelving unit, STRANDMON armchair, POKAL glasses, and DRÖNA boxes. The shopping experience is complemented by the inclusion of an IKEA Bistro and a Swedish Food Market.

The establishment will operate from Monday to Saturday between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM, and on trading Sundays from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Prior to the launch, IKEA promoted its arrival by placing a two-meter-tall wooden Dala horse sculpture in Rynek Kościuszki for public painting.

Expansion Plans in Poland

Chcemy, aby coraz więcej osób mogło urządzać swoje domy i mieszkania z IKEA, jeszcze bliżej ich miejsc zamieszkania. Białystok jest kolejnym miastem, w którym realizujemy ten cel dzięki kompaktowemu formatowi — mówi Paweł Bechciński, p.o. prezesa i dyrektora generalnego ds. zrównoważonego rozwoju w IKEA Retail w Polsce.

Following the Białystok launch—which marks the second compact store of its kind in the country—the company has announced plans to open a third location in 2027 at Galeria Echo in Kielce, following the initial rollout in Bielsko-Biała in 2025.
