Contrary to popular belief, a new study has found that opening a bedroom window at night improves sleep and thinking skills.

A study of 40 people indicates that fresh air helps to get a good night’s sleep.

In the first week, the subjects slept normally, and in the second week they were asked to open the window.

Sleep trackers showed that study subjects slept better when windows were left open.

“Bedroom air quality can affect your cognitive abilities, such as your ability to focus, comprehend and interact,” said Dr. Pawel Warjoki, senior author of the study from the Technical University of Denmark. “Sleeping in a well-ventilated room benefits your cognitive abilities.”

The people in the study reported that they were less sleepy in the morning and evening and slept more deeply.

A much larger study is needed to confirm the findings of the new research, but the findings come after an earlier small study involving members of the same research team suggested that opening a bedroom window reduces snoring.
