Palakkad: A lone person attacked the vehicle of the rapid response team of the forest department in Attapadi. The forest department officials narrowly escaped the attack. The elephant came in front of the RRT jeep of the forest department which came to know that the wildebeest had come down near Attapadi Doddukatti Ur.

The RRT team came to know that Otayan had gone to the farm alone. When he reached the spot, unexpectedly, the cat entered the road and rushed towards the vehicle. The RRT team escaped from Otayan by driving the vehicle back a long distance. The elephant retreated after throwing firecrackers and making noise.

The elephant was brought back to the forest with much effort by throwing firecrackers and making a loud noise. Although the elephant has entered the forest, it is likely to return to the farm. Farmers of Attappadi are suffering due to wild animal encroachment. Farmers of this area are facing huge crop damage as wild animals destroy their crops.

The authorities have assured several times that they will prepare systems including electric fencing to prevent elephant disturbance, but no action has been taken so far. The farmers of Attappadi demand that the government should intervene and take immediate steps to avoid wild animal nuisance.
