With “Louis de Funès, the exhibition” you will discover even more about this one-man band that you thought you knew by heart through photos, writings or costumes. On view until August 21.
As part of its summer program, the temporary cinema museum installed in the Mediterranean hall inside the Cannes Festival Palace organizes since its creation in 2015, exhibitions and events to pay tribute to the 7th art.
This year, it’s the iconic Louis de Funes which is honored.
Know that Louis, Germain, David de Funès de Galarza was born the day of the assassination of Jean Jaurès, on the eve of the Great War. Shunned by the critics, he skims no less thana hundred small roles and even enrolled in Cours Simon in 1942 but gave up after a few months.
It’s a chance meeting in the subway with Daniel Gelin which is the origin of his career. The latter offers him a role in the play he is directing. It is from this moment that Louis de Funès becomes the man that everyone knows and still makes people smile in Belgium!
