In Neuchâtel, the center-left imposes its climate ambitions

The canton of Neuchâtel will be able to finance its first climate plan. But it will have to achieve carbon neutrality in 2040 rather than in 2050, as proposed by the Council of State. The center-left succeeded in imposing its conditions on Tuesday at the Grand Council. His bet was risky, knowing that this deadline was opposed by the 40 deputies of the PLR and the UDC. However, to pass the credit of 23 million necessary to carry out the 52 measures planned by the government, 60 votes out of 100 were needed. The PS, the POP, the Vert e s, the Center and the Vert’libéraux united to obtain this qualified majority, to which part of the PLR finally joined. Final score: 74 yes, 14 no and 12 abstentions.
