Tess, is a brave 14 year old dog.
A spectacular fall
The Labrador retriever dog fell 7 meters high while looking for a treat during her walk.
His mistress Linda had a huge shock when she saw her dog fall into the hole. Fortunately, she quickly pulled herself together to contact the emergency services.
Portland Fire & Rescue firefighters arrived on the scene and lowered a firefighter down the hole to secure Tess with a harness.
They then hoisted the female dog using a pulley system.
A successful rescue
In total, Tess spent almost an hour in the hole.
Miraculously, the dog was not injured in her fall, because there was a pile of leaves at the bottom of the hole which cushioned her fall.
As soon as her paws touched solid ground, she was able to receive hugs from her mistress Linda.
Neighbors who witnessed the dog’s rescue applauded the firefighters for the feat. What a relief !
