Al-Marsad newspaper: Dr. Abdullah Al-Hogail said that forbidden sexual intercourse is the largest means of transmission of “immunodeficiency disease”, pointing out that the disease is transmitted in 5 ways.
Al-Hogail explained, during his meeting on the “Saudi Arabia” channel, some of these methods, saying that there are two main methods that constitute about 95% of the first emerging cases of blood, its derivatives, and organs, and this risk of infection is less than 1 in a million, except for organ transplantation in foreign commercial centers.
He added: The second method is from the mother to the fetus, and in the past the infection rate was up to 50%, but now, with the medications and treatments that you take during the period, the infection rate is 1 in a thousand.
And he continued: There is a specialized hospital in the Kingdom that witnessed more than 180 births from mothers with the disease, and all the births were fine, and a condition for the safety of the newborn is that the mother undergo health care during, before and after pregnancy.
And he continued: Also, among the methods of transmitting the disease are sharp tools, scalpels, and needles, which are still present in drug users, and those who are vulnerable to disease and other serious diseases.
He concluded: It is not true that only homosexual intercourse is the cause of disease transmission, and what is true is that sexual intercourse in general, whether homosexual or non-homosexual, causes the disease, and 92% of infections occur because of it.
