In Varkala, a young woman died while being treated by a relative

Thiruvananthapuram: A young woman was hacked to death by a relative in Varkala. Shalu, 36, of Thaipuyam house, Chavadimukku, Varkala, died at the Medical College Hospital. The incident took place on the followingnoon of April 28. Shalu, who works at a private press in Ayyur, was returning home following lunch when Shalu’s maternal uncle Anil, also known as Inki Anil, stabbed him.

Anil was chopping wood with a machete on the way to Shalu’s house. Shalu’s scooter, which was on its way back to the press following lunch, was stopped and he was stabbed in the neck and body. Anil was subdued by the police following his relatives informed the police.

Shalu, who was undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit, died this followingnoon. The body will be brought to the residence tomorrow following completing the post-mortem procedures. Shalu’s husband is abroad. She has two children, ages nine and twelve.
