Increases to 12 the wounded left by gas leak explosion in Yara Yara (+ list of names)

The deflagration affected towers 1, 2 and 3 of the Las Palmeras Residential Complex, on Atlántico Avenue.

The number of injured after an explosion due to a gas leak in Tower 1 of the Las Palmeras Residential Complex, in the Yara Yara sector, in Puerto Ordaz increased to 12, the authorities indicated.

In a first report they indicated that there were eight people who had been affected. Among the victims is an elderly lady, who was boarded up by a wall.

The explosion was reported around 7:00 in the morning on Sunday, August 28.

The deflagration was recorded in one of the apartments in Tower 1, also affecting buildings 2 and 3 of the residences located specifically on Avenida Atlántico.

The injured presented burns and open wounds, for which they were treated and transferred in ambulances from Ven 911, Venalum and Sidor, to the Uyapar Hospital.

Officials from the Municipal Fire Department of Caroní, Civil Protection, the Secretary of Citizen Security, Edgar Colina Reyes, appeared on the site; and uniformed officers of the Bolivarian National Police, of the Bolívar State and Municipal Police of Caroní.

The explosion also affected eight vehicles that were in the parking lot of the towers.

The authorities remain in place to carry out the technical inspection. The shock wave was felt several meters away. Even in nearby residential complexes.

Among the patients admitted to the Uyapar Hospital is Yulibet Ana, who presented severe head trauma and a facial fracture.

In the same health center are Oscari Pante, 20 years old, with facial and musculoskeletal trauma; and Alexandra García, 17 years old, with closed thoracoabdominal trauma.

Milagros Regino, 20 years old; and Yudit Quiroz, 54 years old; who presented maxillofacial and musculoskeletal trauma, respectively.

Domingo Campos, 73, and Luisa Campos, 67, were taken to Hospital Ruiz y Páez, in Ciudad Bolívar, both with third-degree burns and closed thoracoabdominal trauma.

A 14-year-old boy with second-degree burns and moderate head trauma was also transferred to the burn unit; and Rosana Campos, 33, who suffered closed thoracoabdominal trauma.

There are also other minors who are being cared for in the Uyapar.
