India Catalina Awards: Citynoticias wins as best local newscast – Cinema and Tv – Culture

‘Citynoticias’, the City news program, from EL TIEMPO Casa Editorial, obtained this March 20 the award for best regional or local newscast at the India Catalina Television Award.

In Cartagena, and during the first part of the gala, the award was presented, which for the eleventh time receives the news from City, which has midday and night broadcasts on weekdays and during the weekend. From Monday to Friday, in the morning, ‘Arriba Bogotá’ is the informative option.

Darío Restrepo, director of the City information system, is the head of this project, in which there are experienced journalists and also very young ones, in a mix that allows them to give another vision to the news.

Regarding the award, Restrepo commented: “It is a true record to have received the India Catalina Award for the best local or regional newscast for eleven years. And what that means is that we have been faithful to our viewers, because we have not changed our reason of being and acting for the benefit of citizens”.

And he added: “They and the industry also continue to be loyal to us and every year they reward us with the best awards that Colombian journalism has and, specifically, television. Our motto continues to prevail: citizen journalism, the people of the street, being in the neighbourhoods, listen to the neighbor, take the pulse of the city, be rigorous”.

For his part, Dr. Carlos Francisco Fernández, editor of Health at EL TIEMPO Casa Editorial, who received the award on behalf of City, stated: “This is recognition of the work thought about the audiences and their needs, and focused on objectivity. and in the rigor required to report with people in mind. That is why, from the direction and the team of journalists and technicians, we dedicate it essentially to the viewers”.

Citynoticias is the news of Bogotá and its inhabitants, with the news of the city and the most important events of the country and the world, but with an emphasis on events in Bogota and especially on helping people solve many of their needs.

The City news programs have shown great work in difficult times in Bogotá and in 2021, he won the Simón Bolívar award in the news-video category, with the special ‘Protestas del 9s y 10s’.

Darío Restrepo, Martha Beltrán, Marcela Cortés, Mauricio Gallego, Víctor Castro, Ángela Pardo, Andrés Sánchez, Rafael Niño, Leonardo Ballesteros, Johnatan Nieto, Sandra Vélez, Aníbal Alvarado, Edixon Ruiz, Edwin Suá, Johana Luchini worked on the City special. , Lucas Salas, Luisa Fernanda López, Miguel Porras, Sergio Grandas, Óscar Fagua, Gabriela Cárdenas and Pablo Arango.

City had three more nominations: best news anchor (Sandra Vélez), best entertainment show host (Marcelo Cezán, for Bravíssimo) and best entertainment show (Bravíssimo).

The awards ceremony had several special guests, including the actor of Colombian origin John Leguízamo, who works in the American industry who virtually announced the winner in the category of best talent favorite of the public, awarded to Katherine Vélez, for her performance in Café con aroma de mujer, by RCN.

Also Carolina Gaitán and Mauro Castillo, actors and singers who participated in the film Encanto, were in charge of announcing the award for best musical audiovisual production, which went to Serenata, from Teleantioquia.

At the close of this edition, Lucho Velasco had also won awards, for best antagonistic actor for his participation in La Reina del Flow; Catalina Gómez, best new actress for Emma Reyes, the footprint of childhood, from Señal Colombia, Consorcio Quinto Color and CM&; Noticias Uno, best newscast, and Juan Diego Alvira, best news presenter, from Canal Caracol.

The best telenovela or series directors were Rodrigo Lalinde, Consuelo González and Alejandro Castaño for The Chosen Granddaughter, from Canal RCN.

Margoth Velásquez received the Víctor Nieto award for a lifetime. With more than 50 years of career, she is one of the most important actresses in the country. India Catalina 2022’s emphasis was on women in the television industry.
