Influenza and bronchiolitis epidemics show signs of abating

The first week of January 2022 was marked by a “Sharp decrease in monitoring indicators for bronchiolitis in children under 2 years”, according to the weekly bulletin from the French public health agency, published Wednesday January 12, 2022.

The agency is particularly concerned with “End of the epidemic in Ile-de-France” and the “Transition to the post-epidemic phase in Hauts-de-France and Normandy”. The Martinique has passed into an epidemic phase.

Common and very contagious, bronchiolitis causes babies to cough and difficult, fast, wheezing. Most of the time benign, it may however require a visit to the emergency room, or even hospitalization.
