She continued: There is a big difference between seasonal influenza and the common cold, and each infection is a separate disease from the other and has its cause that differs from the causes of others, even if the symptoms are similar to the point that it is difficult for the average person to differentiate between a cold and influenza, and therefore we recommend seeking help from a specialist doctor in the event of severe symptoms. Do not resort to medications directly, without specifying the cause and type of injury, as the misuse of medications, especially antibiotics, may cause risks whose impact is not limited to the person himself, but extends to a danger that threatens the entire community.
She added: The influenza virus is constantly changing and mutating to avoid threats to its existence and to adapt to the environmental conditions surrounding it. The ability of influenza infection to cause complications and deaths increases among the elderly and some sick groups, including young people and children, as well as pregnant women.
