A plus size model used her social networks to denounce that they prevented her from boarding a plane for being “too fat”.
After vacationing with his family, Juliana Take, a ‘plus size’ model originally from Brazil, was preparing to take a flight from Doha (Qatar) to her country; however, he assured that a counter employee did not allow him to travel due to his weight.
Through an Instagram post, the young woman indicated that she had paid thousand dollars for the ticket and she said that, in order to be allowed to embark, she had to buy a executive ticket that costs three thousand. Otherwise, you had to purchase two normal tickets to “adjust the seat”.
“After hours of begging, he returned all the bags that had already been checked in, claiming that I would have to buy business class or I would not travel,” he said.
“They are denying me the right to travel (…) I’m desperate, help me, they don’t want me to embark because I’m fat”, said the model, who arrived in Lebanon with a tourist class ticket from the airline Air France. On that occasion, she “had no problems” when traveling.
“What a shame that a company like Qatar Airways allows this kind of discrimination against people! I’m fat, but I’m just like everyone else!” she added.

After the incident, Juliana stayed in Lebanon with her mother, while her sister returned to São Paulo with her son..
“I am stuck in Lebanon. They wanted my mother to go away and leave me alone here in Lebanon. But I don’t speak English or Arabic. She turned him down,” she explained.
Now, the young woman points out that she has “hotel and taxi expenses that she did not need”, which is a problem since she does not have the money to pay for these services.
Additionally, he denounced that the airline now he demands that he pay another ticket for his mother and upgrade his to business class.
“I was extremely humiliated in front of all the people at the airport! All because I’m fat”he added.
