China has also supported the deployment of another advanced device, which has a range of 14,000 square kilometers, and with the help of which not only early warning of lightning strikes, but also information on wind speed, rainfall, floods, flash flooding. Advance notification can also be obtained.
He said that after the installation of these devices, the meteorological department will be able to give advance notice of lightning strikes in every region and city of Pakistan.
Until now, Pakistan did not have a modern lightning early warning system.
Mehr Sahibzad Khan said: ‘We are extremely grateful to China for gifting such a modern equipment system. The price of these devices received from China is one million US dollars.
According to the Director of the Meteorological Department, there has been an enormous increase in lightning strikes in the Thar desert of Sindh over the past few years.

According to Mehr Sahibzad Khan: ‘It will be difficult to determine the exact location of lightning, but the area where lightning can strike will be detected with the help of these devices.
The advance notification of the lightning strike will be given to national media, Radio Pakistan and Deputy Commissioner Offices of the concerned district, who will immediately broadcast it on local FM radios and also share it on social media and WhatsApp groups. .’
In response to the question that how long before the lightning strikes, the information can reach the public, Meher Sahibzad Khan said: ‘With these devices, the location and intensity of lightning will be detected only when the clouds gather for rain. And immediately alerts will be issued on media and district administration, Radio Pakistan, FM channels.
He said that during this time people will get enough time to take precautionary measures.

In Tharparkar, a desert area of Sindh bordering the Indian border, there has been an enormous increase in lightning strikes over the past few years.
