TP-LINK Archer AXE75 Wired/Wireless Router

▲ The router to be used for simple NAS deployment is the Archer AXE75, the first Wi-Fi 6E router launched in Korea by TP-LINK, the world’s No. Wi-Fi 6 is the next-generation standard for Wi-Fi technology, which utilizes the 6 GHz band and seven 160 MHz channels to enable efficient network configuration with wider bandwidth and faster speeds. And 1024-QAM used for Wi-Fi 6 delivers a 25% improvement over 802.11ac 256-QAM because symbols are delivered in 10-bits instead of 8-bits. This ensures optimized performance and stability for VR/AR gaming networks and 8K streaming.

(If you have forgotten your account or password, press the reset button for more than 10 seconds to reset it)

▲ Management page main menu configuration

It is efficient because it has a menu that contains only essential menus for general users and an advanced settings menu for advanced users. And with HomeShield built-in for home Wi-Fi security, it gives you a variety of tools to help protect your data or limit usage by younger users.

Build a simple NAS with an external hard drive and router

▲ A TP-Link account is required to use the TP-Link DDNS service for remote connection of USB storage devices. You do not need to sign up for direct FTP connection.

▲ Click Register to create a DDNS domain (optional)

▲ TP-LINK Archer After connecting an external hard drive to the AXE75 USB port, the initial settings will only have Samba for Windows and local FTP functions checked. Samba for Windows and local FTP functions allow access only from PCs or mobile devices connected to the same network. Also check the Internet FTP function to allow access to the simple NAS storage using an external or other network.

How to Access Simple NAS from Windows

▲ To access locally, enter the Samba address for Windows or local FTP address in the Windows Explorer address bar, and log in by entering the admin page ID and password, not the TP-Link account. (You can also enter the \tplinkwifi.net address)

For remote access from the outside, simply enter the Internet FTP address (WAN IP).

How to access simple NAS from mobile

(I used FTP Manager because I couldn’t connect to the outside with the TP-Link DDNS address.)

▲ First, press the + button in the FTP Manager app to enter a new connection.

▲ Select FTP from the New Connection menu

▲ As when connecting using a PC, the addresses used for local and remote connections are different. Enter the address 1 according to the user’s environment, and additionally enter the port number 2 as well. As in #3 and #4, this is the admin page account and password, not the TP-Link account.

▲ A photo of a simple NAS by connecting Seagate FireCuda Gaming HDD to TP-Link Archer AXE75

▲ When connected locally, access was similar to that of the HDD installed inside the PC, and when connected remotely, there was a slight delay in preview loading when there are many media files.

▲ And, when using a video file using the FTP manager, there was a delay when first running it because the entire file is loaded and then played. Instead, as the entire file is loaded and played, it has the advantage of being played immediately even if the playback section is moved.

▲ When a Fast One Touch SSD is connected and when a FireCuda Gaming HDD is connected

The file upload/download speed did not change much, but the preview file was much faster.

I can feel it being loaded. As there is also an effect on the network speed of the device being accessed.

It seems practical to use a storage device with a large capacity for the price.

Summary of testimonials

■ Although the performance or function cannot be compared with that of NAS, if it is used for the purpose of storing/backing up or sharing data required by general users, it does not seem to be lacking.

■ In the long run, it seems that it can be used cheaper than the cloud cost used for data storage/backup or sharing, and data recovery service is also supported. I don’t have to worry.

■ If you are burdened with NAS setup or management, try a simple NAS. As the hardware performance of the router has increased, it shows performance beyond expectations.
