iOS 17 will merge songs on Apple Music and SharePlay on CarPlay

A feature of Apple Music that currently exists on macOS—and, surprisingly, even Android—but not iOS is the fusion between songs. As iOS 17however, this option (widely available on other streaming services) will finally land on iPhones.

The feature, as the name suggests, makes the transition between songs not happen exactly as soon as one track ends and the other begins, so that there is a gradual change of a few seconds, in which the playing track becomes quieter as where the next one gets higher. The functionality, of course, will be optional and can be configured in Settings » Music » Fusion Between Songs.

As noted by our collaborator Vinícius Porto in the image above, the novelty is highlighted when opening Apple Music after updating to iOS 17 — along with the new SharePlay option that will allow more than one user to control music in CarPlay.

More precisely, how detailed by TechCruch, when the driver’s iPhone is connected to CarPlay, any passenger’s device will automatically suggest an option to control music playback. By using SharePlay, the solution is very similar to the experience of sharing content in a FaceTime call, with synchronized playback and shared controls.

It is worth noting that the first beta version of iOS 17 was made available today for developers — the first public beta is expected only for next month.

Apple Music has a catalog of more than 100 million songs and 30,000 playlists — many of them supporting Spatial Audio (Dolby Atmos) and in very high definition, with audio Lossless. For those who love classical music, there’s a dedicated app with over 5 million tracks, all in a streamlined interface! In Brazil, there are three types of subscription: University (BRL 11.90/month), Individual (BRL 21.90/month) is Familiar (BRL 34.90/month). If you are not a subscriber, You can test the service for free for one month.. It is also part of the company’s Apple One subscription package.
