“iPhones 15 Pro”: new buttons will work with cases and gloves, says leaker

This week, one leaker Anonymous shared details about how speculated works new buttons of the “iPhones 15 Pro”which most likely will no longer be physical and will become haptic feedback.

In addition to the information already disclosed, the leaker said yesterday on the forum of MacRumorsthat the sensitivity of the new buttons will be “customizable” thanks to a new toggle that should be made available in Settings, depending on the vehicle itself.

The issue was raised following questions about how buttons with haptic feedback will work with gloves and cases, as capacitive sensors often require direct skin contact.

Forgot to mention that these capacitive buttons will work great with gloves and cases if designed correctly as there is a sensitivity toggle.

As explained by 9to5Mac, the capacitive buttons continuously charge and discharge the sensor with a small electrical current. Touching anything with a stored electrical charge (like our fingers), it changes its capacitance, triggering the sensor — hence the doubt about using gloves and cases, since these items can interfere with the transfer of that charge.

It is worth noting that the rumors about the implementation of buttons with haptic feedback are aimed at the “iPhones 15 Pro/15 Pro Max”, so non-Pro models will continue to use the current physical buttons.
