Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – During his visit to Lebanon, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian met, on Friday, the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah group, Hassan Nasrallah, according to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA).
The agency confirmed that the two sides “discussed the most important issues related to the resistance and the political challenges facing Lebanon and the region.”
The meeting between them also dealt with “discussing the most important developments taking place in Lebanon, and developments in the regional arena,” according to (IRNA).
In turn, the Iranian semi-official Tasnim Agency reported that “during the meeting, they reviewed the latest developments in the region, especially the issue of the Saudi-Iranian agreement, due to the restoration of relations between them, and its repercussions on all countries of the region, and the latest developments in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories.”
The Iranian Foreign Minister arrived in the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on Wednesday, and met with his Lebanese counterpart, Abdullah Bouhabib. He also held talks with the Lebanese caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, and the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri.
According to the Iranian (IRNA) agency, “During his visit, the Iranian Foreign Minister met with the Secretary-General of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement, Ziyad al-Nakhala, and a number of deputies in the Lebanese Parliament.” The agency indicated that the meeting dealt with “developments on the so-called (resistance front), And the point of view of these deputies in forming the new Lebanese government.
At the same time, the Iranian (Tasnim) agency published a picture of Iran’s foreign minister visiting, on Friday, the town of Maroun al-Ras, near the border with Israel, with a number of Lebanese officials.
The agency quoted him as saying: “We are here in Maroun al-Ras in order to announce it again, and loudly, that we support the resistance in the face of the occupation,” according to his description.
