Israel is concerned about “another provocation” by Hezbollah before approving a maritime agreement with Lebanon

The newspaper (Times of Israel) on Sunday quoted the Israeli news channel 12 that Israel is concerned that Hezbollah will carry out what it described as “another provocation” before the possible signing of the maritime border agreement with Lebanon.

The newspaper reported to the Hebrew channel that Israel “will give up a part at sea as part of the talks, while Lebanon will give up an area close to the coast.”

The newspaper said that the channel did not mention in its report the type of “provocation” that security officials believe might be carried out by Hezbollah. However, the newspaper indicated that last July, Israel intercepted 4 Hezbollah drones that were heading towards the Karish gas field.

Last Friday, Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah warned of a new escalation if Lebanon did not get what it demands regarding the demarcation of the maritime border with Israel.
