As in retail, negotiations took place in the IT industry on Friday, but no conclusion was reached. For the GPA union, the employees’ improved offer – from 5 to 6.25 percent – was not acceptable. The basis for the negotiations of the IT collective agreement is the autumn forecast of rolling inflation, which is 7.75 percent for 2023.
“A salary increase below the inflation rate is not a contribution to increasing the attractiveness of the industry. The procedure suggests that employers are not interested in a realistic and fair conclusion,” said GPA negotiator Sandra Steiner in a broadcast.
Works council conferences are now being held. If no agreement is reached at the new negotiation date on January 15th, the GPA is holding out the prospect of “union measures”. According to the GPA, around 90,000 people are employed in the IT industry across Austria.
