No matter how hard Suzuki tried, she never managed to achieve the same popularity as her fellow Japanese competitors. And this is strange, given that in the line of this brand there are interesting models that combine two important qualities at once – affordability and reliability.

We are talking about the first-generation Suzuki SX4 compact crossover, which can be found on the Russian secondary market in the budget of about 600 thousand rubles, which is cheaper than they are now asking for the new Lada Granta (from 678 thousand rubles).

The main list of complaints about this model from the owners was reduced to not the highest quality finishing materials. At the same time, the technical side of the car could only be envied.

So, for example, the SX4 suspension boasts high-quality shock absorbers capable of nursing more than 200 thousand kilometers. But the choice of engines on the Russian market is small – most of the SX4 offers on the “secondary” in Russia are equipped with a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with the M16A index, which produces 107 horsepower.

This engine has no frank “sores” with relatively low mileage. However, closer to 300 thousand kilometers, it is worth thinking about preventive maintenance, which will eliminate oil leaks from oil seals and gaskets.

As for transmissions, they also proved to be very reliable. The 5-speed “mechanics” is strong, as, in fact, the 4-band “automatic” of Aisin (AW80-40LS), but the latter does not like sharp starts, slippage and towing of other cars. Nevertheless, with due attention, this SX4 automatic transmission is able to hold out for 300,000 km.

Much more unpretentious to the operating conditions, the “automatic” was paired with a 2-liter engine, but there are very few such cars on the Russian secondary market now. The box with the AW50-40LE index became famous as indestructible and capable of withstanding more than 500 thousand kilometers.
