Italgas Spa announced an investment plan totaling more than 80 millions of euros over the next 12 years for the Sondrio territorial area, following a contract signed by Italgas Reti and the municipality of Sondrio. The agreement covers the gas distribution network in the Como 3 and North Sondrio zone, which was awarded to the company on April 10.
The 80 Million Euro Investment Plan for Sondrio
The newly signed concession spans 129 municipalities across the provinces of Como, Sondrio, and Lecco. This vast perimeter serves more than 88,000 delivery points. Italgas Reti Chief Executive Officer Pier Lorenzo Dell’Orco said the agreement launches a program designed to modernize local energy infrastructure. “With the signature of the contract, we launch an investment plan that will bring more than 80 millions of euros to the territory for networks still safer, digital, and capable of reaching new communities,” Dell’Orco said in a statement.
Dell’Orco added that the initiative highlights how competitive area tenders drive tangible regional development. The project converts municipal bidding processes into physical network upgrades and long-term benefits for local citizens and businesses. The Sondrio expansion integrates into a broader corporate strategy across northern Italy.
Strategic Alignment With Italgas Growth Targets
The Como 3 area joins eight other territorial zones currently operated by the Italgas group. These competitive zone tenders form a core pillar of the corporate strategic plan spanning 2026 through 2032. That broader roadmap allocates 2.4 billion euros specifically to new territorial concessions and network integration.
Following the announcement, Italgas shares rose 0.5 percent to trade at 8.99 euros per share on the exchange.
