Italians against the occupations –

Two out of three Italians are against university occupations. Online, 35% express a positive sentiment regarding university occupations, compared to 65% who, instead, look with negativity and/or perplexity at the phenomenon that recently broke out in the universities of Rome, Naples, Genoa, Turin, Bologna and Macerata. This is what emerges from a research conducted for Adnkronos by Vis Factor. The emotions most associated with the topic are anger (32%), frustration (21%), distrust (16%) and solidarity (15%). Support for students and the Palestinian cause are the concepts most associated with positive sentiment; condemnation or doubts about this type of demonstration are the basis of a firmer opposition or doubts that lead the majority of Italians to say they are against the occupations.

The pro-Gaza activist's background sparks Cruciani: You know nothing!

At La Sapienza University in Rome, occupied the other night, a group of young people yesterday tried to enter the Rector’s building where the Collective assembly was taking place. Chants were chanted against Israel and the police force while a banner already hanging said “Sapienza for Palestine”. Yesterday in Genoa the rector Federico Delfino was heavily insulted and contested by the students. In mid-November a group of students from the University of Genoa occupied the Faculty of Letters and Philosophy in solidarity with the Palestinian people. And then Naples, where the boys occupied the Oriental University, once again in support of Palestine. “Until victory” was written on the banner hanging from the central balcony of Palazzo Giusso. This was the case in Bologna, again last November, where «the students of Unibo responded to the mobilization throughout Italy in solidarity with the Palestinian resistance», they had the opportunity to explain in a conference.
