Almost 12 years have passed since the presenter Lina Marulanda made the decision to take her own life, when he jumped from the sixth floor of a building in Bogotá, where he lived. However, for her friends and her closest colleagues, her pain has not diminished over time, so when they remember her they usually do so with tears in her eyes.
That’s how it happened to Ivan Lalinde during his most recent interview with Dany Hoyos and his character from ‘Suso, the paspi’who has in his program a section called ‘The memory’, through which he recalled that time when the presenter of ‘Day by day’ shared with the deceased woman, not only as colleagues but as great friends .
“What do you miss most about Lina?” Suso asked, to which Lalinde answered with a broken voice: “All of her, she was my partner and my company on nights of talking, having a few drinks and smoking 20 thousand cigarette packs, calling us at night and talking at all hours, but also sending us text messages because at that time there was no WhatsApp. I miss it a lot, a lot!”
Later, The man from Antioquia admitted that every day he speaks to the memory of his friend and tries to find comfort in the good times they spent together. She even says that from the first day and until now the image of Lina through the corridors of Caracol Televisión has her very present.
Despite the pain that it causes Iván Lalinde to remember who was his best friend and confidant several years ago, he warns that it is appropriate to bring up the subject of depression and suicide to prevent cases like this from happening again.
Furthermore, he recalled that Lina Marulanda called him insistently the night before her death, but due to problems he decided to ignore her call.although without thinking that there was not going to be a next opportunity to talk to her.
“I like that they put the theme because it is something that we have to stop balls. Lina, for example, left in the middle of a depression. Why did she do it and why did she make that decision? Only she will know, but those of us who remain here must learn that we have to be very attentive to that. Lina called me a lot the night before she left (committed suicide), because we arranged to see each other that Wednesday (…) later she called me to tell me that she couldn’t go to lunch with me because she had to do a walk with her dad, so I got angry and told her: ‘skinny, there you are painted and I threw the phone at her’. Already at night he began to mark me, but I said that I was not going to stop him balls and the next day, when I was in my business chopping strawberries and blackberries, they called me to tell me what happened and I could not believe it, “he added in ‘ The Suso’s Show’, program of Caracol Television.
Now Iván Lalinde considers that he has “an angel in heaven” who left him several teachings so as not to make the same mistakes in the future and pay attention to those who need it.
It is worth mentioning that at the time of her death Lina Marulanda was accompanied by her parents, to whom she told them that she was going to sleep in her room and it was there that she chose to take her own life, with a statuette of the Virgin Mary in her hand. .
