Within a very short time they were able to… Jack power establish themselves as a reference for fuzzy doom monoliths with psychedelic undertones. Highly exciting studio works and exciting live concerts make the Swedish trio a real force that feels like it is constantly on the rise. They remain true to their mix on their latest album, adding just a touch of rock and increasing the heaviness. Evolution in installments accompanies the usual powerful, twisted „Sonic Moons“.

Two nine-minute tracks frame the latest prank and get to the heart of the skillfully applied rejuvenation treatment. “Whispers” opens with leaden heaviness, with quiet moments, with psychedelic bubbling, but also with doomy depths that drive through your bones. Domkraft rely on force with feeling and turn the wheel completely in the second half. What breaks through the framework here in terms of distortion is impressive. “The Big Chill”, on the other hand, is almost in media res by genre standards. The constantly breaking solo guitar spits out wonderfully alienated tones, the vocals move at a soul-searching pace. A complete collapse and reconstruction in the final act makes hearing and seeing disappear.

In between, it may not be quite as spectacular, but Domkraft are pretty damn strong here too. So “Slowburner”, far from its title, attacks very head-on and biting, reaching boldly and overlaying even the obligatory psychedelic influences with metallic force. “Black Moon Rising” is even a bit angrier and more direct, at times screaming itself into a hoarse frenzy, at least until the effects-laden guitar works its way out of an echo thicket and takes the stomper into a sludge-compatible finale. “Stellar Winds”, on the other hand, offers classic fare, mixing sheer doom power with entertaining entertainment and manic riffs, only to drift off again and again.

Instead of breaking everything up, the Swedes are introducing their fresh scent brands almost timidly, although damn effectively. “Sonic Moons” brings more power and more verve to the stage, is a bit more rocky, but at the same time doesn’t lose any of the familiar charisma. The fuzzy riffs remain, the almost metallic outliers, accompanied by playful, reverb-laden psychedelia, hit again. Domkraft continue to skilfully work on their presentation and land the next direct hit. How this kind of rocking heaviness will affect future releases remains to be seen.
