Jackson Mahomesbrother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomeshas asked a Johnson County judge to allow him to communicate with the witnesses by changing his link.
The motion seeks permission for Mahomes communicate with four witnessesall of whom were identified in the court file. It also argues that Mahomes has been isolated from these witnesses and that allowing communication would be best for him.
Mahomes was charged with one count of misdemeanor assault and three counts of aggravated sexual assault after allegedly assaulting the owner of Aspens Restaurant and Lounge in Kansas City last February. He was released with a $100,000 bail.
Surveillance video showed a man resembling Mahomesphysically and sexually assaulting a woman, as she begged him to stop. Mahomes was also involved in a physical altercation with a server at the restaurant.
As part of the conditions of your bond, Mahomes is not allowed to consume alcohol, illegal drugs or controlled substances and must undergo drug screening tests. He is also prohibited from publicly commenting on the case, including the accuser and his establishment.
If found guilty, he could face up to 55 months in prison for aggravated sexual assault.
Mahomes has been absent from social media since his arrest, but recently returned posting photos of himself attending the 2023 NFL Draft with his brother Patrick.
Mahomes will return to court on May 11 for a hearing on the motion to allow witness communication.
