Chennai: The Tamil film Annapurani has been accused of hurting the sentiments of Hindus
Actress Nayanthara apologized. Nayanthara expressed her regret on Instagram with the caption ‘Jaishreeram’. The film tried to convey a positive message. But Nayanthara said in a statement that it hurt some people’s hearts.

I am writing this post with a sincere desire to address the recent developments regarding the film ‘Annapurani’. The film was not made for commercial purposes. The film was a heartfelt effort to inspire resistance and instill a never-give-up spirit. Nayanthara said that she tried to reflect through her life journey that obstacles can be overcome with sheer willpower.

“We wanted to spread a positive message through Annapurani but we felt it hurt some people’s hearts. It was not intentional. We were surprised that a movie that was certified by the Censor Board and had a theatrical release was removed from OTT. My team and I have no intention of hurting anyone’s feelings. And we all know how serious this matter is. As someone who fully believes in God and regularly visits temples across the country, this is the last thing from my side. For the sentiments we have touched, I offer my sincere and heartfelt apologies.’- Nayanthara clarified.

The police had filed a case against the cast and crew of Nayanthara’s new film ‘Annapurani’, alleging that they hurt religious sentiments and promote love jihad. The complaint also states that Sri Rama has been portrayed badly in the film. After the incident became a big controversy, the film was removed from Netflix.
