Japan aims for first moon landing with daring Slim mission

In order to prepare for the next steps in robotic and human exploration of the Solar System, Jaxa, the Japanese space agency, is developing small, light and high-precision lander technology. To test and validate it in real conditions, Jaxa has developed the Slim mission which is about to take off to reach the Moon. It will aim for a precision landing in a rugged region in 4 to 6 months.
