Japan offers cutting-edge equipment to the Port-Gentil regional hospital –

Two delivery tables, an incubator, nine bubblers, two wheelchairs, a digital x-ray table, a console and a digitizer, this is the donation officially presented by the Japanese Ambassador to Gabon, Noguchi Shuji, at the N’tchengué regional hospital as part of the ‘project to improve the equipment of the Port-Gentil regional hospital center’.

“Today, this donation takes on particular meaning, because it symbolizes our continued commitment to supporting the development and well-being of the Port-Gentillaise population”said Mr. Noguchi Shuji.

This donation testifies, it is indicated, to the strengthening of cooperation and fraternal ties between Japan and Gabon. Valued at €70,745 or nearly 47 million FCFA, this latest generation equipment aims to improve patient care by offering quality care.

For the Director of the hospital, Dr Jonas Mboumba, “it is through difficult times that we know our true friends, and your presence testifies that the government of Japan is in the right vision of the policy promoted by the President of the Republic, to offer better care to the populations”.

To date, the Japanese Embassy in Gabon has supported thirty projects with funding of more than one billion FCFA, or two million euros, in the areas of health, training and support in technical equipment. And this donation is the materialization of the good relations between the two States which are more than 60 years old.

“We are convinced that it will contribute to strengthening the technical platform of the Port-Gentil regional hospital, and will contribute to improving the care of patients in this establishment,” rejoiced Dr Elise Eyang, Secretary General of the Ministry of Health.

In his remarks, the Japanese diplomat reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at strengthening the health sector in Gabon.
